Rancho Cordova has initiated Phase 2 of its Active Transportation Plan to improve infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. City officials and residents are working together to develop the next steps for enhancing walkability, bikeability, and accessibility, according to a recent announcement. This phase incorporates input from more than 1,200 residents, focusing on creating safe, well-lit, and connected pathways that link residential, educational, work, and recreational areas.

Phase 1 highlighted a focus on safety and the need to address gaps in infrastructure, including sidewalks and bike lanes. These improvements were identified as priorities, along with connecting key community areas. The goal is to develop a network that effectively links locations such as Coloma, Sunrise Boulevard, Anatolia, and Stone Creek. In the next phase, residents will have the opportunity to review and provide input to help shape the priorities for these improvements, as outlined by the City of Rancho Cordova.

To provide opportunities for public input, the city has organized a series of engagement activities. A survey is available until October 15, and Transportation Tuesdays offer both in-person and virtual office hours for more detailed discussions. These forums are complemented by a series of pop-up events held at locations throughout the community, including Hagan Community Park, Cordova Gardens Elementary, and local Farmers’ Markets.

The centerpiece of Phase 2 is the Citywide Workshop scheduled for early October. This interactive event is designed to engage residents through hands-on stations, allowing them to explore and provide feedback on the draft pedestrian and bike network.
