The Ventura County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a conservancy group found the skeletal remains on September 24 while clearing out invasive plants near the Baldwin Road bridge, as reported by CBS News Los Angeles. An examination by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office determined the identity of the deceased, Ms. Valora, who was last observed by family on June 25, 2024.

The sheriff's department, along with other units including Search and Rescue and Crime Scene Investigation units, responded to the scene where the remains were found.
In terms of the investigation's progress, the medical examiner stated that "there was not any obvious lethal trauma to the decedent and the cause and manner of death are pending further analysis," as released in a statement obtained by Ventura County Sheriff's Office press release. Further inquiries regarding this case or the role that circumstances surrounding her autism may have played in her disappearance remain to be seen.
