The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the man shot and killed by San Antonio police was Jaime Gonzalez, 41. Gonzalez confronted two drivers, went to his home, and came out with a shotgun. San Antonio Police Department officers responded to calls of shots fired just east of downtown San Antonio. Gonzalez was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to KSAT.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Gonzalez did not fire the shotgun directly at the officers. However, when he pointed the weapon at them, the officers, each with about six years of experience, used lethal force. The confrontation ended in Gonzalez's backyard, where he was shot and killed. Neither officer was injured. Neighbors reported heavy police activity before the shooting. Local resident Julia Domaradzka told KENS 5, "I heard a rapid succession of six to ten, it was just a lot of gunshots all in a row."

The officer-involved shooting of Gonzalez is under investigation. The two drivers he confronted are cooperating with authorities. Records show San Antonio Police Department responded to seven calls at Gonzalez’s home this year, including two for disturbances. This is the 11th officer-involved shooting involving San Antonio Police Department this year. A neighbor, Domaradzka, said, “Seems like he’s going through a tough time. Recently I think he got into an accident or his limbs were broken. He was always very cordial with me but you never know," as reported by KENS 5. Authorities are expected to release more details as the investigation continues.
