San Antonio will host a two-day Complete Streets workshop starting tomorrow at the Pre-K 4 SA West Education Center. The first day will feature a public meeting, and registration is available through the City’s Complete Streets website, as per the City of San Antonio release.
The workshop will bring together community members and professionals—including developers, planners, and engineers—for breakout sessions, walk and bike audits, and discussions on safer street design. Catherine Hernandez, the city’s Director of Transportation, said the event highlights San Antonio’s work to improve street safety for all users.
San Antonio’s Complete Streets policy has been ranked number one nationally by Smart Growth America and the National Complete Streets Coalition. The city also received a gold medal from CityHealth for its improvements since its previous award in 2021. Heidi Simon of the National Complete Streets Coalition noted the importance of putting policies into action.
The workshop will include public sessions, interactive exhibits, and discussions on how the Complete Streets approach can inform local projects. San Antonio is also developing a Complete Streets Toolkit to focus on safety, equity, and accessibility. More information is available on the Complete Streets website.
