On a typical Friday night under the lights of Seminole High's stadium, the atmosphere took on a different tone as a community came together to support Ethan Pritchard, a former standout football player of the school's team who now plays for Florida State University (FSU). According to WFTV, Pritchard was shockingly shot in the back of the head while driving his aunt home from a family gathering. Despite the harrowing event, which led to Pritchard being placed in a medically induced coma, his high school made sure his presence was felt during their game.
The entire school community wore number 9, which was Pritchard's jersey number at Seminole High, with players, attendees, and banners displaying the number as a symbol of solidarity and resilience. Michelle Wright, the booster club president, conveyed the collective heartbreak, "Everyone's heart is breaking right now," she told WFTV. A GoFundMe page established to support Ethan's family swiftly surpassed its original goal, raising significant funds to aid his recovery.
The opposing team witnessed Seminole High’s unwavering support as students, parents, and boosters sold "Bokey Strong" shirts, dedicating the proceeds to Pritchard's medical expenses. The sentiment throughout the game was anchored in community, as evidenced by the playing field emblazoned with the hashtag #EPStrong—a nod to Pritchard’s strength and the hope for his recovery. As reported by FOX 35 Orlando, the game culminated in a 55–0 victory for Seminole High.
