Seattle received two awards from the Center for Digital Government for its digital services, including the Winter Weather Response Map. Chief Technology Officer Rob Lloyd said, "These awards are the result of teams addressing needs voiced by our community," according to the Seattle Information Technology.
The Winter Weather Response Map shows which streets have been cleared by plows and sanders and includes a text-based version for screen-reader users. Rodney Maxie, Deputy Director of SDOT, said, "This map gives residents a real-time view of our work in action – whether plows and spreaders have treated their streets – and does so in a way that is accessible for all," as reported by the Seattle Information Technology.
The CDG's Government Experience Awards, now in its ninth year, recognized 41 states, cities, and counties for using user-focused service design and advanced tools to improve how residents interact with government services. Dustin Haiser, President of e.Republic, said, "From AI to anticipatory experiences, agencies are showing that residents can access services in the way that works best for them, and still get an experience that is inclusive, equitable, and designed around their needs." Seattle was among the award winners. Harvey Arnone, Data Enablement Division Interim Director, said, “This recognition inspires and motivates us to continue advancing digital government to better serve our community,” as stated by the Seattle Information Technology.
