The recent arrest involved a 16-year-old male from Southeast, D.C., who, per MPD's statement, was charged with the same offense. Officers from the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force carried out the arrest this past Tuesday, September 23.

On the morning of the fatal incident, specifically at around 2:43 a.m. on September 15, 2024, police officers arrived at the scene following a shooting report. They discovered David Washington with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate attention from DC Fire and EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene, having exhibited "no signs consistent with life," as detailed in the MPD's release.
