Nearly 45,000 SEPTA Key cards—44,617—are set to expire on Tuesday. Riders with registered cards can transfer their Travel Wallet funds and passes to a new card online, as reported by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority reminded riders to register their Key cards, especially before they expire. "Registering your card not only protects it if it’s misplaced but also makes it much easier to transfer any Travel Wallet funds or unused passes," Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority said on Facebook. Riders can transfer balances and passes to a new card by buying a replacement for $4.95, and the fee is credited back if the new card is registered within 30 days. Transfers can be done at SEPTA Sales Locations, by calling the Customer Call Center, or through the card-to-card replacement service.

Riders with an unregistered card past its expiry date should contact SEPTA's Key Customer Call Center. According to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority on their Facebook page, "You also now have the option to pay your Bus, Metro, and Regional Rail fare using a contactless credit card, debit card, smart phone or watch." Contactless fares are the same as Travel Wallet rates, and Bus and Metro riders get two free transfers. "Thanks for riding SEPTA!"
