Early today, a high-speed crash in San Antonio sent six people to the hospital after their vehicle, operated by a driver now suspected of intoxication, veered off Northeast Loop 410 Southbound, as reported by KSAT. The incident occurred near the Interstate 10 exit ramp, close to the Houston Street exit just before 3 a.m.
According to the authorities, the driver, a 22-year-old woman, was behind the wheel of a 2006 blue Hyundai Sonata, traveling at what was described as a high rate of speed when the crash happened, and she, along with her five passengers, needed medical attention post the accident, with one of the passengers suffering from life-threatening injuries the rest sustaining injuries that were not considered life-threatening, FOX San Antonio further elaborates.
Preliminary reports from the San Antonio Police Department suggest that the woman was suspected to be under the influence at the time of the crash, she has sustained serious injuries due to the accident. All the occupants of the Sonata were promptly taken to the hospital for further treatment as the investigation into the precise nature of the incident, and the sequence of events that led to it continues.
There's been no update yet on the condition of those hospitalized, but the last reports indicated that alongside the driver suffering serious bodily injuries, one passenger's situation was notably dire, facing life-threatening circumstances; the other four passengers, however, appear to have escaped with less severe harm.
