The South Philly Sports Complex has a new landmark dominating its skyline—a sign for the freshly rebranded Xfinity Mobile Arena. Today, the signage for the arena, formerly known as the Wells Fargo Center, was officially unveiled, according to NBC10. The change heralds a new era for the venue that serves as the home turf for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia 76ers.
The event was marked by fanfare and appearances from the Flyers' mascot Gritty and the Sixers' mascot Franklin. In a strategic move to continually engage with its audience, the arena now promises to quickly connect fans to high-speed Wi-Fi, enabling them to seamlessly post to social media in real time, as reported by 6abc. This comes as part of a larger transition that Comcast Spectacor and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment embarked on back in May, announcing the name change and the fresh contract that will see Xfinity Mobile holding the naming rights till the 2030-31 seasons for both teams.
Alongside hosting the city's beloved basketball and ice hockey teams, the venue is also a prime spot for college basketball, concerts, and a plethora of other high-profile events.
