The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of K9 Zero, a three-year-old Belgian Malinois who died unexpectedly due to a medical emergency. According to a social media post from the sheriff's office, despite receiving extensive life-saving efforts during surgery, Zero tragically passed away.

Joining the force in January 2024, Zero was not only trained in patrol but was also adept in narcotics detection, serving alongside Deputy McKinstry. In the heartfelt statement, the sheriff’s office conveyed, "It is with deep sadness that the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of our beloved K9, Zero." The beloved canine hailed from the Czech Republic and was a part of the Sheriff’s Patrol Division.

The sheriff's office extended acknowledgments reflecting on the support that both humans and animals require in times of distress. "We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sage Veterinary Services in Dublin, Sylvan Veterinary Hospital, and Standiford Veterinary Center for the compassionate care they provided during this difficult time," the sheriff’s office stated, also thanking the California Highway Patrol, Turlock Police Department, Modesto Police Department and Dublin Police Department for their devised support.
