Baltimore can expect some calm after the storm today, as the National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC predicts drying up of conditions and a gradual return to sunny skies. Meanwhile, keep an eye on Annapolis because there's a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect through this morning's high tide. As the low-pressure system that's been a bit of a bother around Virginia Tidewater bids us farewell, high pressure's rolling in, promising a few days of dry, and for all intents, fairly pleasant weather – good news for those who've been ducking raindrops and fog this past week.
According to the near term forecast, we've got the sun on our side from here on out with this morning's mist expected to burn off soon after sun-up, a bit of northwest wind flirtation to dry the pavements, and temperatures probably even forgetting its mid-September, with the mercury nudging the low to mid 80s, keeping on with the trend, tonight's slated to be mostly clear with lows playing in the mid-50s to low 60s range. But don't retire the fans just yet because Friday is shaping up to bring even toastier vibes – the mid to upper 80s to be more precise – due in no small part to that mid-level ridge that's not shy about heating things a bit.
Now shifting gears to the aviation crowd, the National Weather Service alerts travelers and alike of those IFR to LIFR conditions due to the low-pressure linked fog, these ought to lift as we head into the afternoon, so the forecast is VFR, virtually fine and regular, or very favorable runway, you decide, from then on into the weekend. Boaters, too, can breathe easier, with marine conditions looking rather tame, no small craft advisories on the horizon, and winds staying chill – peak gusts maybe hitting a flirtatious 15 knots.
For those invested in the longer-term ambiance, Sunday through Wednesday keeps things interesting – a sprinkle or two may grace us come Sunday with the climate hovering in the cozy upper 70s, low 80s, and that high pressure that's been playing hard to get finally moves in Monday and Tuesday, drawing back the clouds and serving us a slice of the good sun life. But here's a twist, a boundary's queued up to crash our party Tuesday night and into Wednesday, with chances of showers playing favorites towards the western zones, while eastern areas might just score a dry day, but that's the weather for you, never fully committing but always hinting at possibilities for change.
