
Two individuals sustained injuries in a crash in Richland County this past Thursday morning, as the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported. The collision involved two vehicles on State Route 314, near Stine Road, Sharon Township. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2010 Honda Civic driven by a 16-year-old from Lexington was going north on Route 314 and collided with a southbound 2014 Dodge Ram after losing control in a curve.
The teenage driver, maneuvering the curve, reportedly crossed the center line before striking the Dodge, as was a 62-year-old Shelby man. The young driver was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with serious injuries, and the older driver suffered minor injuries. Alcohol and drugs were not suspected in the incident, per OSHP's preliminary investigation.
The crash, which occurred around 7:50 a.m. last Thursday, remains under investigation by the highway patrol. "Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash," according to FOX8 news, which enlisted responses from Shelby Fire and EMS, who transported the injured parties to receive medical attention.
Further details were shared by Crawford County Now, indicating that the southbound vehicle was driven by Gregory Ditmars, 62, of Shelby, Ohio. Despite the serious circumstances, sustained by the young driver were serious injuries, and assisting at the scene were Ranks Towing and Auer Towing, who took care of the vehicles involved without incident of drugs or alcohol suspected to factor in the crash.
