Recent developments in a gang-related graffiti vandalism case in Saticoy, Ventura County, have led to the arrest of three juvenile males involved in a series of defacements of community buildings with gang insignia and other vandalism-related offenses. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office Headquarters Patrol and West County Special Enforcement Unit have been actively investigating the incidents since a call for service was responded to in January.
The investigation, which initially began to swiftly respond to reports of graffiti, quickly expanded to uncover a deeper connection to local criminal street gangs. According to a recent media release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, detectives identified two members of one of the local gangs suspected to be behind the graffiti. They carried out searches of the suspects' homes, where evidence was found, and subsequently made arrests. One of the apprehended, a 14-year-old Ventura resident, was also charged with possession of ammunition and an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery.
Further investigation led to more discoveries, including three loaded and unregistered firearms at a residence, resulting in another male juvenile's arrest. Sergeant Gabe Gonzales from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that "the male juvenile subject was later lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center," highlighting the severity of the crimes involved. The unit expects to make several more arrests as its probe continues into the vandalism.
The Sheriff’s Office has actively sought the community's involvement to assist in the investigation. Detective Jonathan Lopez encourages anyone with information to come forward, as listed in their press release. The office also maintains an active presence on social media and provides a number of channels, like Nixle, for the public to stay informed and engaged in helping to enforce law and order within the community.
