On Sunday, a fire broke out in a four-unit apartment building on the 3700 block of Tuam Street in Houston’s Third Ward, near the University of Houston. The blaze started shortly after 11:15 p.m., and two people were injured. Houston firefighters arrived as heavy flames were consuming the second floor, with concerns about the fire spreading to nearby buildings, as reported by Click2Houston.
Houston firefighters quickly controlled the blaze within 15 minutes despite an issue with a malfunctioning hydrant. According to Click2Houston, neighbors told investigators that a man from an upper unit may have started the fire and fled, later returning for medical help. Surveillance footage captured the resident, and the case is now under investigation by HFD's Arson Bureau.
A fire damaged several apartment units, leaving two people injured—one taken to the hospital and another evaluated by EMS, as mentioned by KHOU. Firefighters encountered a dry hydrant but were able to connect to another to put out the flames. The extent of the damage and the number of affected units have not yet been confirmed.
