United States Attorney David Metcalf announced charges against two Pennsylvania residents accused of election fraud in two separate federal elections. As reported by the U.S. Department of Justice, Matthew Laiss, 31, of Bethlehem, and Miya Pack, 39, of Philadelphia, are facing indictments for their alleged actions during the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections, respectively.
Laiss, reportedly moved from Ottsville, Pennsylvania, to Frostproof, Florida, in August 2020 and registered to vote in the Sunshine State. Nevertheless, the Bucks County Board of Elections mailed a ballot to his previous address in Pennsylvania. According to the indictment, Laiss voted via mail-in ballot in Pennsylvania and subsequently went to a Florida polling location to vote again in 2020. Each count in the indictment could mean a maximum of five years in prison and fines ranging $10,000 to $250,000 for Laiss if he is convicted.
Similarly, Pack's indictment alleges that she took advantage of being registered to vote in both Bergen County, New Jersey since 2004, and Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania since 2016. Pack allegedly cast her ballot during early voting in New Jersey and again in Pennsylvania on Election Day in 2024. She could face the same maximum sentence and fines as Laiss.
