The Solano County Sheriff's Office, in a coordinated effort with the FBI Solano County Violent Crimes Task Force and their own SWAT team, has rearrested Marvin Mutch on federal charges related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse materials. According to a social media post from the Solano County Sheriff's Office, Mutch, a 68-year-old Vallejo resident with a criminal history that includes a 41-year murder sentence, was taken into custody last Thursday. The arrest ensued after the initial May arrest warrant led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices, narcotics, and a loaded firearm from Mutch's residence.
The case against Mutch has progressed following evident collaboration between California law enforcement and federal authorities. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California has filed a federal criminal complaint against Mutch after forensic analysis confirmed the presence of child sexual abuse materials on seized devices. "This case underscores our relentless pursuit of those who exploit children," the Solano County Sheriff’s Office stated, highlighting the gravity of Mutch's suspected violations. As reported by Hoodline, the former parolee could now face federal charges under 18 U.S.C. § 2252, carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of five years, with the possibility of up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Further detail on the charges discloses that Mutch is accused of knowingly possessing and accessing hundreds of CSAM files, which included content as disturbing as abuse involving infants and toddlers. Following his federal court appearance in Sacramento, Mutch was denied bail and remanded into federal custody, pending further proceedings.
