
A devastating two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman last Thursday in Redford Township. CBS News Detroit reports the incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. near the crossroads of Inkster and Plymouth. The woman, a front-seat passenger in a Chevrolet Trax, was receiving CPR when officers arrived, but sadly succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
Redford Township Police detailed that a motorist driving a gray Cadillac, traveling south on Inkster Road, ran a red light at the intersection with Grantland Street, as noted by Audacy. This action sent the Cadillac careening into the oncoming northbound lanes and colliding with the Chevrolet, wherein the woman was killed, who had minor injuries the male driver of the Chevrolet.
The identity of the woman victim was not released immediately following the accident. Both the male driver of the Chevrolet and the driver of the Cadillac sustained minor injuries in the crash and were treated accordingly, according to The Metro Detroit News. Police clarified that neither alcohol nor drugs is believed to be a factor in this fatal encounter.
The intersection was closed off as authorities investigated the scene. While the Redford police continue their investigation into the precise cause of the crash, they are actively seeking information from the public.
