Residents of Polk County experienced moments of tension after a shooting incident triggered a manhunt for an armed suspect on Wednesday in the Leggett area. According to Click2Houston, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Lee Davis Strole, warning the public that he was considered dangerous and advised against any attempts to approach him. The caution came following a shooting near Parish and Wilson Road, north of FM 942 East, leading to an urgent shelter-in-place order for nearby residents.
Little was initially disclosed about the shooting itself, with the circumstances remaining unclear as deputies immediately embarked on their search. Meanwhile, authorities urged drivers to avoid the area, which was swarming with law enforcement agents on the lookout for Strole. In an attempt to protect the community, a shelter-in-place directive kept residents in a state of unease, fixed within the sanctity of their homes, hoping for a swift resolution to an unfolding anxiety.
Ultimately, the manhunt concluded with the suspect in custody. KHOU reported that after several intense hours, the Polk County officials captured Lee David Strole. Before his arrest, residents were instructed to remain indoors, a measure that ensured their safety as well as provided law enforcement the space needed to operate.
