Fort Bend County is moving forward with a major housing project called Austin Point, a 4,700-acre development by The Signorelli Co. According to the Houston Chronicle, this is one of the largest undertakings in the area since the 1980s and is planned to include 14,000 single-family and multifamily homes.
Sales have started for the first phase, which covers 125 acres and includes 421 houses. KHOU reports that the homes will range from three to five bedrooms, with sizes between 1,500 and 4,500 square feet. Lot sizes vary from 35 to 70 feet, and prices start in the mid-$200,000s up to the $900,000s.
The Houston Chronicle notes that more than 60% of the homes are planned with front porches, while garages and driveways will be positioned at the back. About 1,000 acres are reserved for parks, trails, and open areas to improve connectivity within the neighborhood.
Nine builders, including Ashton Woods, Perry Homes, and Westin Homes, are offering homes at Austin Point. Incentives ranging from $10,000 to $45,000 will be available for upgrades such as appliances or reduced interest rates.
Population growth in Fort Bend County continues, with the Houston Chronicle projecting 1.8 million residents by 2050. Austin Point is expected to play a major role in meeting housing demand in the region.
