A Baltimore City man has been slapped with several felony charges, including firearms and narcotics violations. Malik Jamil Pleasant, 29, was initially put on the radar of Maryland State Police while they were investigating an incident of road rage that seemed to be unrelated at the time. This probe eventually led to uncovering information implicating Pleasant's involvement in illegal activities, according to a Maryland State Police report.
In the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Pleasant had an open arrest warrant for violating his probation, a consequence of a previous conviction for conspiracy to commit first-degree assault linked to a shooting case in Baltimore City. Last Monday, the Maryland State Apprehension Team, alongside the US Marshal’s Capital Region Fugitive Task Force, managed to swiftly apprehend Pleasant, who was a wanted fugitive at the time. He is now being held without bail at the Baltimore Central Booking Intake Facility. Despite being prohibited from having firearms, ammunition, or ballistic vests, Pleasant has been found to seemingly own all of the above.
Post-arrest, search warrants were executed on Pleasant's residence, and vehicles turned up over 850 suspected fentanyl pills, a handgun, a drug ledger, a ballistic vest, and other incriminating items. This bust led to additional charges being filed against Pleasant, including possession with intent to distribute narcotics and felony possession of a large amount of fentanyl.
