Attention all you hoop-shooters and racket-swingers in Charlotte County: there's going to be a brief intermission on your local courts. Starting today, Bissett Park's basketball and combined tennis/pickleball courts, as well as the tennis/pickleball courts at William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park will be under renovation, slated to reopen freshly surfaced by the end of the month. That's right, from bounce passes to baseline rallies, you're going to have to hold off until Halloween.
The county has given heads up that these popular sporting venues will be off-limits during this resurfacing period. Although the parks themselves will remain open for other activities, park-goers are urged to steer clear of the construction hustle and bustle. As noted by Charlotte County officials, "Park patrons are asked to avoid the work areas and use caution when in the park." So, if you're planning a serene stroll or a playful frisbee throw, be mindful of the areas roped off for renovation.
The update to these facilities is a testament to the community's investment in recreational spaces and the commitment to maintain them for public use. Despite the temporary inconvenience, these improvements will likely boost the enjoyment of the courts for locals and visitors alike. Take it as an opportunity to explore other recreational areas or to get creative with your workouts – there's never a shortage of ways to keep active, even when your go-to spot is getting a facelift.
