Charlotte County's Economic Development Office, in collaboration with the local Chamber of Commerce and Florida Gulf Coast University, is setting the stage for an open conversation on the workforce dynamics within the Charlotte community. A roundtable titled "Charlotte County Workforce Roundtable: Challenges and Opportunities for Local Businesses" is scheduled for next Wednesday, as announced on the Charlotte County's official website.
The event, taken place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center, is a platform designed for dialogue among the region's business, educational and community figureheads. The participants will dive into current challenges that local employers face, like workforce shortages, and discuss strategies to bolster the talent pipeline and better tailor education and training to match the practical needs of the area's industries.
Kay Tracy, director of the Charlotte County Economic Development Office, will moderate the discourse. The panel boasts a diverse lineup of speakers, including Eileen DeLuca from FGCU, Peg Elmore of CareerSource Southwest Florida, the superintendent of Charlotte County Public Schools Mark Vianello, Michael Ehrat at the helm of HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, and Dr. Chris Westley from FGCU's Lutgert College of Business.
Each brings a wealth of experience and insights pertinent to fortifying Charlotte County's workforce framework. The event is open to all who have a stake in the future of Charlotte County's economic and labor landscape.
