As the November elections loom, Colorado's Governor Jared Polis is taking decisive steps to reinforce the state's election integrity, according to an announcement early this morning. Governor Polis signed an Executive Order to activate unarmed members of the Colorado National Guard, marking a consistent effort since 2019 to use the National Guard to support election cybersecurity.
The move is part of a broader effort to maintain Colorado's standing as a benchmark for election safety. "Voting is the best way for Coloradans to have their voices heard. That is why in Colorado we strive to be the gold standard for free and fair elections, and take every measure necessary to ensure that our elections are safe and secure," Governor Polis said, as per the Colorado Governor's Office. This measure comes amid a national conversation around election security and a push to bolster confidence in the electoral process.
