Corewell Health will expand its Troy hospital with a 132,000-square-foot tower by 2030. The hospital’s bed count will increase from 530 to 624, and private rooms will rise from 40% to 72%. The project will also improve the emergency department, imaging, and operating rooms. A 128,000-square-foot parking deck with a pedestrian bridge will be added. Construction is planned to start by August 2027, and a contractor is being selected, according to The Detroit News.
Corewell Health is expanding its Troy hospital to better match inpatient bed availability with community demand. "This will right-size inpatient bed availability with demand and answer our community’s request for more private rooms for patients and their families," said Lamont Yoder, emphasizing the hospital’s proactive approach to local healthcare needs, as reported by Detroit Free Press.
The new hospital tower is designed to provide sustainable, integrated, and patient-centered care for Troy and northern Oakland County. "The expansion will help us meet immediate and future inpatient demand while meeting the full spectrum of the needs of our patients," Yoder added, underlining Corewell Health’s long-term commitment to the region, as mentioned by Corewell Health Newsroom.
