Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani has surpassed the 50% mark among likely voters in the NYC mayoral race, according to a recent Fox News poll. The poll, which surveyed 1,003 registered voters between October 10 and last Tuesday, shows Mamdani receiving 52% support, compared to former Governor Andrew Cuomo at 28%, Republican Curtis Sliwa at 14%, and Mayor Eric Adams at 2%, despite Adams having withdrawn from the race after the removal deadline.

Among registered voters, Mamdani has 49% support, Cuomo holds 28%, Sliwa has 13%, and Adams has 3%. The data indicates that 89% of Mamdani supporters report strong commitment to their candidate, compared to 75% of Cuomo supporters and 82% of Sliwa supporters. A Gotham Polling survey reported by CBS News shows a close race between Mamdani and Cuomo if Sliwa exits the race. Sliwa has stated, "I'm not dropping out," while Cuomo referred to him as "irrelevant."

Nearly half of voters identify Mamdani as the most competent on key city issues such as the economy, cost of living, housing, and taxes. Cuomo is the closest competitor, leading Mamdani by 8% on the issue of crime. The Fox News poll reports favorability ratings of 58% for Mamdani, up from the previous month, 50% for Cuomo, and 36% for Sliwa.

Mamdani’s campaign has referenced these poll results, with spokesperson Dora Pekec stating in an amNewYork report that “a majority of New Yorkers are rejecting Andrew Cuomo’s billionaire-backed politics of the past.” Meanwhile, the Sliwa campaign expressed optimism, with Media Director Maria Sliwa saying, “We are surging,” despite the poll’s results. The Cuomo campaign did not comment on the Fox News poll figures and instead highlighted the former Governor’s debate performance as an indication of his readiness.

As the mayoral contest progresses, all three candidates are scheduled to participate in an upcoming debate on NY1.
