As Denver gears up for another Halloween filled with ghouls, goblins, and an abundance of sugar, the Denver Police Department is taking to social media to ensure the community celebrates safely. In a series of tips dubbed "Hocus Focus on Safety," the department shared its second piece of advice for the festive week ahead.
Urging both the young and young-at-heart to exercise caution, the Denver Police Department posted on Facebook a timely reminder: "Halloween is fast approaching and this week is jam-packed with spooky fun. Whether you're a kid or kid-at-heart, party smart — only snack on treats and sip drinks that are sealed, safe, and from folks you trust. When in doubt, toss it out!" This advice, while simple, is crucial at a time when tampering concerns rise alongside the ghosts of the night.
The annual October 31st festivities, which often include community parties, trick-or-treating, and numerous social gatherings, come with an inherent risk of encountering unsavory elements hidden among the sweets. By recommending only consuming treats that are sealed or from trusted sources, the police department hopes to mitigate any potential risks associated with the Halloween celebrations.
