The city of Dunedin is abuzz with excitement as it prepares to support the Toronto Blue Jays in their World Series bid against the LA Dodgers, the first time in three decades. This quaint Floridian town, steeped in baseball history as the spring training ground of the Jays, has announced a series of community watch parties for residents to rally around their adopted team.
For the opening games of the series, Dunedin invites fans to converge at TD Ballpark, the very grounds where the players hone their skills in the spring. Mayor Maureen "Moe" Freaney expressed the city's pride, "Every spring we watch these players train on our fields and become part of our community." She was quoted in the City of Dunedin's announcement, adding, "Now we get to cheer them on as they take on the LA Dodgers. Let’s go Blue Jays!"
Doors will open to fans at 7 p.m. at TD Ballpark for the first two games, with each game beginning promptly at 8 p.m. Admission is gratis. Although outside alcohol and pets are prohibited, attendees will find food and beverages for purchase. Options for both stadium and the more casual lawn seating are available, so spectators are encouraged to pack their chairs and blankets, ready to wear their devotion on their sleeves.
Subsequent games, from Game 3 onwards, will shift venues to Pioneer Park, as detailed by the city's announcement. Keeping up with modern communication standards, updates, including any changes or additions to the events, will be posted on the City of Dunedin's Facebook page. As the Series progresses, this digital hub will serve as a communal rallying point for Blue Jays fans near and far.
The Jays Shop at TD Ballpark in Dunedin is open for extended hours Monday through Friday as fans gear up for the Blue Jays’ postseason run. The town is showing strong support for the team, which began its journey on Dunedin’s own fields.
