A fatal collision in Milwaukee has claimed the life of a 20-year-old moped rider. The incident took place Tuesday night around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of 27th and Parnell streets. According to WISN, the moped driver was pronounced dead at the scene. In an attempt to lend aid to the victim, a certified CPR and first aid bystander, Hazim Amro, was present. "Unfortunately, he died, I know that," Amro told WISN. The car's driver was subsequently taken into custody by police, who are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
While impairment by alcohol was not suspected in the incident, per investigators' preliminary assessments, they are still piecing together the events leading to the tragic accident. Found near Mitchell Airport, just west of it, the crash site became an instant locus of sorrow. As detailed by WTMJ, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is in the process of reviewing the case to determine any potential charges.
The identity of the moped operator has not been formally released. However, the authorities have indicated that the car and moped collided while the former was traveling west on W. Parnell Avenue. The Milwaukee Police Department has not yet concluded its investigation into the crash, and the details are still unfolding.
Officials have stressed that the investigation is ongoing, with a focus on what might have led to the crash and whether any charges should be levied against the driver detained at the scene. "The investigation is ongoing," a representative of the Milwaukee Police Department emphasized, as reported by FOX6 Now.
