Former Marquette basketball player and Indiana Pacers rookie Kam Jones was arrested on Monday in Indianapolis following a brief police chase. The 23-year-old was reportedly driving 40 miles per hour over the speed limit when Indiana State Police attempted a traffic stop, according to WISN.
The pursuit began on Interstate 70 and continued onto Interstate 65 before Jones pulled over on an exit ramp, where he was taken into custody. As reported by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jones told the trooper he did not realize he was speeding and was running late for Pacers practice. He complied with officers’ commands before being arrested.
According to the New York Post, citing WTHR, Marion County records show Jones faces charges of reckless driving and resisting law enforcement. He remained in county jail as of Monday afternoon, with bond yet to be set. Jones was selected 38th overall in the NBA draft earlier this year after finishing his Marquette career as the program’s second all-time leading scorer.
