Fort Worth is gearing up to celebrate the best of its neighborhoods with the announcement that the Community Engagement Office will start accepting nominations for the 2025 Neighborhood Awards on November 1. According to the City of Fort Worth, these accolades honor the hard work and dedication of neighborhood associations, alliances, and standout individuals who have played an instrumental role in strengthening their communities.
The call for nominations spans a variety of categories reflecting the diverse aspects of community building. Among them are the "Fort Worth Pride Award," "Spirit of Fort Worth Award," and "Community Collaboration Award." Moreover, neighborhoods can highlight their health initiatives and communication efforts through the "Healthy Neighborhood Award" and "Neighborhood Newsletter Award," respectively, and, for the first time ever, there will be recognition with the "Safety-First Neighborhood Award" and the "Partners in Learning Award."
Further shining a spotlight on individual contributions are honors such as the "Code Compliance Officer of the Year," "Neighborhood Patrol Officer of the Year," "Fort Worth Neighbor of the Year," and the "Danny Scarth Trailblazer Award," the latter celebrating those who advocate for residents with disabilities. All projects completed within a year's time frame, specifically from November 1, 2024, to November 1, 2025, are eligible, with the submission deadline set for January 17, 2026.
The evaluation of nominees will be conducted by the Neighborhood Engagement & Revitalization Alliance of North Texas, explicitly omitting city staff from the judging panel. Winners will be revealed at the Mayor’s Neighborhood Awards ceremony scheduled for March 7, 2026. Nominees have the added option to bolster their submissions with up to five photos to further distinguish their entries. However, for recurring events, there's a stipulation: a winner must wait five years before reapplying in the same category, while one-time events face no such restriction.
