Over the past weekend, Fort Worth was hit by severe storms, leaving residents to deal with fallen tree limbs, damaged fences, and various debris scattered across their properties. Despite the havoc, the city's waste management system has provided clear guidelines for debris disposal, seeking to ease the cleanup process for the community. Through a recent announcement released by the City of Fort Worth, locals have been instructed to stick to their regular curbside collection schedules for garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste.

The city's statement specifies that large branches and tree limbs should be kept separate from bulk waste by at least two feet to facilitate proper hauling and processing. Residents are advised to make use of their green yard carts or Kraft yard bags for smaller vegetative debris. As for oversized garbage that won't fit in the brown carts, they should be placed in bulk waste piles, again maintaining the two-foot separation from yard waste to ensure collection efficiency.

Information from the City of Fort Worth also reminds citizens that their garbage and recycling carts are reserved exclusively for small trash and recyclables. Any items that prevent the cart lids from closing may incur fines, and residents are encouraged to either add larger items to the bulk waste or take them to a Drop-Off Station. Drop-Off Stations are available from Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, closed on Sunday and Monday.

Given the increased amount of debris due to the storms, delays are possible. The city asks homeowners to wait until 7 p.m. on their designated collection day before reporting a missed collection. If a pickup has been missed, residents should keep their carts or materials at the curb and contact the 311 Contact Center by using the MyFW app, calling 311 from a cellphone, dialing 817-392-1234, or emailing [email protected].
