According to officials from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the vehicle was flagged for further inspection, a decision that unfolded into a discovery of 22 packages of alleged cocaine. Port Director Carlos Rodriguez underscored the success of the operation in a statement obtained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, praising his team's acumen. "Our officers’ expertise with our tools and technology is second to none, as illustrated by this interception of over $738,000 in hard narcotics," Rodriguez said on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website. At an approximate weight of 55 pounds, the seized substance puts a fleeting dent in the relentless traffic of drugs—a reflection not only of the challenge at hand but also of the steadfast vigilance of border officials.
