A former employee of Holy Cross of San Antonio is the subject of a criminal investigation after being accused of secretly recording students undressing and engaging in sexual activity with another adult on school premises. KSAT Investigates reported that the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) responded to a call from the school on Thursday evening regarding an allegation of invasive visual recording and discovered footage of at least three students changing clothes in an office and the 34-year-old male employee involved in a sexual act with another adult, according to KSAT.
The incident was brought to light when a staff member who shared an office with the accused noticed an alarm clock harboring a lens and an SD card, SAPD's findings revealed that the recorded content was not captured in a locker room but in an office onsite; however, as of yesterday afternoon, the suspect had not yet been taken into custody the Holy Cross High School legal counsel clarified in a statement obtained by News 4 San Antonio/Fox SA, that "the allegation being investigated by the SAPD has nothing to do with invasive recordings in any locker room, girls or boys" emphasizing that the school has contacted law enforcement, removed the individual from his position, and the affected students will be addressed privately respecting their privacy, according to Fox San Antonio.
In a letter to parents, Holy Cross Principal Rene Escobedo stated that the employee was terminated following a "credible report" of misconduct and assured that those individual students who may have been impacted by the incident would be contacted directly by school administrators. Holy Cross's attorney further noted that they are cooperating fully with SAPD to ascertain the identities of the affected students, although it is understood that the images may not be clear enough for positive identification; they are committed to maintaining transparency while protecting the privacy of those involved, KSAT reports.
The school has since been proactive in addressing the situation, with the principal's communication and legal counsel's statement indicating immediate actions were taken to ensure no further risk to students or staff remains. "The employee in question was immediately terminated on Thursday of last week when this came to the attention of school administrators, and the adult participant in images captured with the fired employee was identified and banned from the campus the following day" the attorney for Holy Cross stated, demonstrating the school's swift reaction to the allegations and their prioritization of safety and welfare for the student body, as noted by KSAT.
