A Honduran man has been dealt a 10-year prison term by a federal court in Del Rio for his illegal activities involving child sexual abuse material, according to authorities. Nolber Rolando Rosales-Rosales, 32, was stopped for a secondary inspection at the Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass on October 7, 2024, where customs officials conducted a search of his phone. This search uncovered explicit images of minors and Rosales-Rosales conceded to owning child pornography found on a Telegram account, as stated in court documents.
On the fateful day, a basic phone search by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer led to the unsettling discovery of several suggestive photos of young girls. Following Rosales-Rosales' admission to possessing such material, an indictment was served on November 6, 2024, on multiple counts, including the importation of sexually explicit depictions of minors to the United States.
The case, which was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and CBP, saw Rosales-Rosales pleading guilty to the importation charge on April 2. During the proceedings, presided over by U.S. District Judge Ernest Gonzalez, it was uncovered that six videos depicting child sexual abuse were linked to Rosales-Rosales' present on the account.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas announced the sentencing, signaling a worrying trend of child exploitation material crossing borders. In his announcement, he noted that, "Rosales-Rosales was indicted on Nov. 6, 2024, on one count of use of visual depiction of sexually explicit depictions of a minor for importation into the United States, one count of transportation of sexually explicit depictions of a minor, and one count of possession and access with intent to view child prepubescent pornography." Handling the prosecution of the case were Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tyler Fleming, Nallely Duarte, and Daisy Gonzales, who brought Rosales-Rosales to justice.
