Kristina Chambers was sentenced to 11 years and 14 days in prison for manslaughter in the death of Joseph McMullin. The sentence reflects McMullin’s birth date, November 14. The ruling, issued on Monday, also includes a $10,000 fine. The crash occurred in April 2023, according to KHOU.

A fatal accident occurred outside a Voodoo Doughnut bakery on Westheimer Road when Chambers, driving a Porsche at nearly 100 mph, lost control. The car went onto the curb and struck McMullin, who was thrown into the air and hit a pole. Chambers had a blood alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit, and drugs, including cocaine, were found in her car, as reported by FOX26 Houston. The charge was initially intoxication manslaughter but was later changed, with the penalty range remaining the same.

Brianna Iturrino, who was on a first date with McMullin during the crash, said, "I knew she wasn't going to make the curb." McMullin’s family described him as, "Joe was viewed by all as a brave, kind, and compassionate person in their life. He was a beloved son, loving brother, proud uncle, and the most loyal friend," as per KHOU. The court tied the sentence to McMullin's birth date.
