H-E-B is recalling 12-count packages of Grade AA Large Pasture Raised eggs supplied by Kenz Henz in Houston due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall affects cartons with UPC 86949400030, Julian dates 241–244 and 246–247, and best by dates from October 11–14 and October 16–17, according to KHOU.
The FDA reported last Friday that certain products have been removed from H-E-B shelves due to possible Salmonella contamination, as reported by Houston Chronicle. While no illnesses have been reported, Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, and nausea, and in some cases, serious health complications, especially for young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
Kenz Henz eggs sold at H-E-B and select Houston-area stores, including Erma's Nutrition Center, TRI Health Foods, Arlan's Market, Food King, Natural Rewards, and Froberg's Farm, are being recalled. To check if your eggs are affected, look at the UPC code and Julian dates on the packaging. H-E-B has removed the eggs from stores, and Kenz Henz is offering refunds for returned products. Customers can contact Kenz Henz at 1-409-457-5934 for questions or returns.
