Last Wednesday near Aldine High School, 45-year-old Ted Fleming, a Houston man with no permanent address, was charged with kidnapping a student after injecting them with an unknown substance. School staff found the student off-balance and called Aldine ISD Police. An officer revived the unresponsive student with CPR before EMS arrived. The student said Fleming had injected them, and court records state he "intentionally and knowingly abducted" the student, according to Click2Houston

Andy Kahan, a victim's advocate with Crime Stoppers, told KHOU, "This is the first time I've seen or heard of a case where somebody was actually injected," expressing concern about what could have happened if the kidnapping had succeeded. Fleming has 38 prior arrests, including charges ranging from deadly conduct to indecent exposure, with some serious felonies later reduced through plea deals.

Fleming’s bond was set at $150,000 in court, after the prosecutor asked for $250,000 and the defense requested $17,000. He faces charges of kidnapping, failing to register as a sex offender, and entering school grounds without notification. After the incident near Aldine High School, the school district said it will increase patrols and stated, "The safety and well-being of our students and staff will always be our top priority," as mentioned by KHOU. Updates on the student’s recovery are not yet available.
