Hunter House Hamburgers is relocating about a mile down Woodward Avenue from its white building after 72 years due to property disputes and the need for more space. Co-owner Kelly Cobb told CBS News Detroit, “We looked for a long time as a plan B,” and said the family-owned business will replicate the original site, even bringing the seasoned grill.

Loyal customers say they will continue to support the restaurant at its new former-KFC location, and Cobb emphasized the move will preserve its sliders and style, as reported by WXYZ. As Cobb told CBS News Detroit, “The beautiful thing about it is it’s not a goodbye. It’s a new beginning for us.”

Hunter House Hamburgers is preparing to move to a new location on Woodward Avenue, with reported changes including faster service and more parking. According to The Detroit News, the restaurant’s busiest period is during the Woodward Dream Cruise, when it typically sells more than 1,000 pounds of ground beef. The changes are intended to help the business manage that heavy demand while continuing operations. The current location will close on October 31. The new site will open on November 1 with the same staff and similar atmosphere.
