As the Sea and Sky Air Show approaches this weekend in Jacksonville Beach, it remains uncertain whether the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will perform. Their participation depends on the ongoing government shutdown, which has already led to the cancellation of two shows this month. WOKV reports that a final decision on the Blue Angels’ appearance in Jacksonville is expected tonight, just days before the show scheduled for Saturday and next Sunday.
Even without the military demonstration, the event will include civilian performances such as Jeff Shetterly with Radial Rumble Airshows, Mini Jet Airshows, Redline Airshows, and Adam Baker Airshows. The Senate’s inaction yesterday may affect the participation of the Blue Angels, who were part of last year’s event that drew nearly 300,000 visitors, as reported by News4JAX.
The Blue Angels’ participation has previously supported tourism and economic activity in Jacksonville, benefiting the hospitality, retail, and service sectors while generating jobs and tax revenue. "We love having them there. Obviously, many of us were inspired by big jet teams," Jeff Shetterly, a pilot with Radial Rumble Airshows, told WOKV.
