Over the weekend, Keller Town Center was more than just a hub for shopping and dining. It turned into a festive athletic ground as Dallas Athletes Racing organized a two-day Halloween-themed triathlon event. With the Monster Kids Triathlon starting early Saturday, and the adult Monster Triathlon the following day, athletes of all ages donned costumes to compete in swimming, biking, and running. As reported by Keller Public Safety's social media post, these events were expected to result in heavy traffic and road impacts in the area.
With hundreds set to participate, the Monster Kids Triathlon began at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and the adults' turn to stir up the Halloween spirit started at the same time on Sunday. Saturday's bike route was to comfortably sit within the confines of the Town Center, while Sunday kept true to form—cyclists were to navigate an expanded route through both the Town Center and Hidden Lakes. Details on road closures and traffic advisories were made available on Dallas Athletes Racing's website, allowing residents to plan their routes accordingly.
As the city's trails near Town Hall and the Keller ISD Natatorium got a taste of the triathlon spirit, Sunday's adult bike race had its fair share of impact on local roads. Cyclists were seen riding along Bear Creek Parkway, maneuvering through Town Center and Hidden Lakes. Keller Public Safety's post forewarned residents of the most significant closure being on Keller Smithfield Road, with no traffic flow allowed beyond the designated intersections until the race concluded.
