In an effort to combat prescription drug abuse and raise public health awareness, the Lewisville Police Department, together with the LISD Choices program, is hosting a Medication Disposal Day. The event, set for the fourth Saturday of October, aims to provide a secure method for residents and businesses to rid themselves of potentially dangerous medication no longer needed or expired.
Scheduled for October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the disposal will take place at Lewisville High School, located at 1098 West Main Street, as reported by the City of Lewisville's official website. The day promises to not only safely clear out medicine cabinets but also to symbolically cleanse our community of a potential source of harm that often goes unnoticed.
Volunteers, along with police officers, will be on hand to ensure that medications handed over are managed appropriately and dispatched to the Drug Enforcement Agency for destruction. It’s important to note that certain items, specifically syringes, sharp objects, and inhalers, won't be accepted.
