Baltimore police are currently probing a fatal shooting incident that transpired last night, which resulted in the death of an unnamed man and left a 7-year-old boy suffering from injuries. According to FOX Baltimore, shortly before 5:30 p.m., in the 3200 block of Reisterstown Road, the ShotSpotter system alerted authorities to the gunfire. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, where the man succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts by medical professionals.

The young boy, who has sustained non-life-threatening wounds, found himself caught in the line of fire as a passenger in a car that was merely passing by the scene, as per authorities. He was not related to the deceased man. According to a statement obtained by FOX Baltimore, Mayor Brandon Scott addressed the tragedy in a Saturday night press conference, emphasizing the city's plea for public assistance in the investigation. "We have to bring this person in because that person could have shot, God knows how many people are driving in cars. And we have to remove people like this who will take someone’s life and injure someone else, injure a child, we have to remove them from the streets as quickly as possible," stated Mayor Scott.

Reisterstown Road was closed following the incident, as police canvassed the area for evidence, including multiple shell casings found on the road. The authorities have urged anyone with information or camera footage of the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
