The manhunt continues for the suspect involved in the unsettling daylight shooting of businessman Eddie Jawad in Macomb Township, which occurred in his driveway on Tuesday. According to surveillance footage released by authorities, a man in dark clothing was captured outside Jawad's residence on 24 Mile Road, near Wellington Valley Drive, around 8:22 a.m., as reported by Audacy. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking any information that could identify the suspect, seen later entering the fenced yard of the victim at about 9:30 a.m.

The same individual was seen lurking between two parked cars in Jawad's driveway for approximately 45 minutes. When Jawad emerged from his home to leave for work at around 10:18 a.m., the suspect opened fire. Amidst the ensuing gunfire, Jawad managed to return shots before the assailant fled the scene, as detailed by a news release from the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. The victim encountered their assailant just moments after stepping outside his residence, in a confrontation where the victim's family, where his wife, could have easily been caught in the crossfire as opposed to the suspect's gunfire.

Jawad, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was subsequently taken to a hospital and later released. The shooter, described as a thin Black male, roughly 5'6" to 5'8" tall, made his getaway in a black Ford Escape, model year between 2020 and 2022, that was parked on Wellington Valley Drive, as per CBS News Detroit. This vehicle was later identified to have a stolen license plate affixed to it during the time of the incident.

The incident has triggered a response from the community, highlighting Jawad's reputation as a well-known local businessman and community contributor. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido, confirming the targeted nature of the attack, stated, "Someone was lying in wait," in an interview obtained by ClickOnDetroit. He also described the sheer proximity of danger to Jawad's family, elaborating on how ridiculous the situation unfolded in front of the victim's home. Faye Nemer, CEO and founder of the Middle East and North African American Chamber of Commerce, spoke to Jawad's character, stating, "One of the ways that he gives back to the small business community is through his advocacy and his efforts to ensure that they have an equitable chance at operating their businesses."
