The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the help of locals to track down a suspect who's been connected to a recent burglary and a string of fraudulent activities in the Northeast. The residence, located in the 600 block of 8th Street, Northeast, became the scene of the crime this past Sunday, October 26, 2025, when an individual reportedly entered the home around 8:28 p.m., as the occupants were present, and managed to abscond with personal property, including bank cards.

The break-in's aftermath turned quickly from bad to worse, as the suspect didn't just stop at theft. Shortly after the burglary, several attempts were made to use the stolen bank cards at local businesses. The transactions, if successful, would pile onto an already distressing situation for the victims.

In an effort to apprehend the suspect, the MPD is not only reaching out for assistance but is also incentivizing information that could lead to the suspect's arrest and conviction. "The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia," according to the department's official press release.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to abstain from intervening directly, but rather to contact police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, tips can be sent anonymously via text to the Department's dedicated TIP LINE at 50411.
