Michigan hunters donated a record 140,000 pounds of venison this year through Hunters Feeding Michigan, providing over 560,000 servings to food banks and pantries. "Every year it seems like more hunters choose to donate their harvest to the program, which helps feed even more of our neighbors across the state," said Joe Presgrove, program specialist, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The program, run with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and partner organizations, has provided more than 3 million servings of venison since 2007. Hunters, donors, processors, and partners contribute to collecting and distributing the meat to people in need.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is asking people to donate to Hunters Feeding Michigan to help turn donated deer into meals. "Your contribution covers processing costs, turning donated deer into meals," said Presgrove. "A donation of just $3 provides a venison meal for over four Michiganders!" More information about the program and how to contribute is available on its official website.
