A Michigan lawmaker has called for the immediate restoration of patient complaint data that was removed from the state's website, according to Local 4. The demand follows an inquiry into discrepancies between the data displayed on the state dashboard and findings from a recent audit by the Michigan Office of the Auditor General. This audit revealed that the protections in place for Michigan's mental health patients were described as "insufficient."

Sen. Michael Webber told the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) that removing the data was deeply concerning. He asked for an explanation and a timeline for when the missing data from fiscal years 2022 to 2024 would be restored online. After Local 4 raised questions, MDHHS said there was an error in the 2023 data and removed that section, which also led to the removal of the 2022 and 2023 reports. The 2024 data is still available.

Meanwhile, in Port Huron, a tragic event unfolded as a 30-year-old Detroit man succumbed to gunshot wounds following an incident at a gas station. Port Huron police received reports of the shooting at around 4:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of Military Street, FOX 2 Detroit reports. A 36-year-old woman connected with the fatal shooting was taken into custody and, according to detectives, is cooperating with their ongoing investigation.

The incident is part of a series of shootings in the area, which includes a Roseville man shot by a police officer after allegedly ramming his vehicle into a police vehicle, and another shooting over the weekend, leaving a 17-year-old in critical condition. Additionally, a woman with a gunshot wound was recently found dead in a Southfield home, The Detroit News reports. Authorities have not yet released a connection between these incidents, and the investigation remains active with a plea to the public for any additional information that may help.

Anyone with information pertaining to the Port Huron shooting or other recent incidents is encouraged to reach out to the Port Huron Police Department. The investigation continues as the community grapples with the repercussions of this latest outbreak of violence and the broader questions it raises about public safety in the region.
