Michigan residents can dispose of unwanted prescription medications on October 25 during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The Michigan State Police will open all 31 posts to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the nationwide effort, as reported by the Michigan State Police.
According to the Michigan State Police, the initiative aims to reduce prescription drug abuse by offering a safe and anonymous disposal option. “Proper disposal of unused or expired prescription medication helps prevent misuse, protects the environment and keeps our communities safe,” the agency stated.
The Michigan State Police drug take-back drive will accept only pills, not liquids, inhalers, patches, or syringes. Returned pills will be destroyed with no questions asked. Collection site locations are listed on the Michigan State Police website. People can also drop off prescription drugs at any Michigan State Police post Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except holidays.
