The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors Finance Committee is set to review and approve an amendment to the 2026 budget yesterday. The amendment reflects the Board’s focus on strengthening health, safety, and community well-being through partnerships with local organizations.
According to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors release, Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson stated that the amendment highlights the Board’s priorities of supporting families, workers, and residents by maintaining essential services. A key focus is renewed funding for the “Birth to Three” program, which provides early intervention therapies for children with disabilities or developmental delays. Stagnant state funding has increased the pressure on local governments to sustain these services.
The budget amendment also includes continued support for the “Right to Counsel” program, which offers legal representation to tenants facing eviction, and the “Market Match” program, which helps FoodShare (SNAP) participants purchase fresh produce while supporting local farmers, as per the same release.
Supervisors emphasized that these programs are essential to community stability and access to resources. Additional information about the amendment and programs can be found on the Milwaukee County website.
