A routine patrol led to an unexpected discovery for the Germantown Police Department on the night of October 11 when a 41-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested following a traffic stop. WISN reports that the man was stopped on I-41 near Holy Hill Road due to a missing rear license plate. During the stop, officers including Sgt. Justin Pesch and his K-9 partner, Arek, uncovered a variety of illegal substances coupled with a hidden revolver inside a "Bluey" backpack.
Unbeknownst to the driver, who was later found to have an active warrant, his vehicle harbored 20.84 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of marijuana, 320 Gabapentin pills, six Alprazolam pills, and 55 Suboxone strips in addition to drug paraphernalia. WTMJ notes K-9 Arek's assistance in the find, performing an "open-air sniff" around the car that alerted officers to the presence of narcotics.
The Germantown Police Department praised the efforts of Sgt. Pesch and Arek for their instrumental roles in removing "dangerous drugs and weapons off the streets," as mentioned on WTMJ. The driver was subsequently charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession with intent to deliver cocaine, reports FOX6Now. This follows a pattern of criminal behavior, as the charges were tagged as "2nd or subsequent" indicating prior offenses.
After being taken into custody, the man was transported to the Washington County Jail, facing charges that included felony manufacture or delivery of prescription drugs and felony possession with intent to deliver non-narcotics, in addition to the possessions of THC and drug paraphernalia.
